Before graduating from Penn State in 1910, Brother Nissley was an active undergraduate serving as the President of Tau Chapter. After graduation he became an important influence on the Tau Company Board of Directors. He served on the board for many years and was Treasurer for a number of them. In addition, while a Professor at Penn State in the Agriculture Department, he lent a hand to Tau Chapter by serving as Chapter Advisor.

In 1940 Brother Nissley was inducted into the Distinguished Service Chapter. His citation at that time read:

“Modest, unassuming and unselfish, he has without hope of reward consistently and constructively served Tau Chapter and our Fraternity for many years. His loyalty and devotion have endeared him to us all.”
